Bowie fans, *let’s dance* and celebrate the Space Oddity artist’s upcoming birthday! To mark 75 years since the music icon *landed* on Earth, a Bowie-themed store will open at 14 Heddon Street, central London. Expect Bowie-centric unseen footage, signed memorabilia, and rare merchandise such as limited edition records.
Real Bowie connoisseurs will instantly recognise the location from the cover of the 1972 album The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars. The pop-up extravaganza will also feature immersive screening rooms with rare and previously unseen footage of the Life On Mars singer, taken in the early 2000s, curated by the late star’s estate.
new logo with the 'Starman' musician's iconic lighting bolt and "Bowie 75" was submitted for trademarking and copyright approval.
A sister shop will open in the Starman’s home away from home - New York City, at 150 Wooster Street close to where he lived. The kick-off date for both shopping experiences is October 25, 2021, which, again wasn’t chosen by mistake – 75 days before *The Man Who Sold the World*'s 75th birthday.
“This pop-up is not only an opportunity to build on Heddon Street’s history, as the location of the album cover shoot for The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars but a really interactive, creative approach to retail.”
The "curated experiential" store is part of a year-long celebratory series called “Bowie 75” and will be open seven days a week. Until late January, fans will get to enjoy a life-ch-changing, “unique, immersive career-spanning deep dive into the vision and sound of David Bowie and his artistry,“ hours of video footage, gallery installations documenting Bowie‘s different eras, exclusive Bowie apparel, collectibles, rare footage from Bowie‘s Heathen and Reality eras, behind-the-scenes materials, limited fine art photography, and intimate special guest events. To stay up-to-date with the happenings and not miss anything, check out the official "Bowie75" website here.
